Each year Greenway asks readers to submit nominations for those leaders, companies, brands, products, and businesses they have deemed to be the Best of the Industry.
The top nominees for each category are selected to be voted on by readers. Awards oversight is provided by a committee of industry and advocacy professionals who contributed in a variety of ways. A nomination or win showcases a company or individual as an industry leader in Missouri’s cannabis space.
Missouri has become one of the country’s most rapidly rising cannabis markets. The state saw more than half a billion dollars in sales of medical marijuana in just two years of retail sales at dispensaries. With the passage of adult use marijuana legalization in 2022, Missouri’s marijuana market again shifted. At the beginning of February, with just hours notice, Missouri dispensaries began to legally sell recreational marijuana. Over the first three days of sales, Missouri dispensaries brought in more than $12 million dollars in legal marijuana sales. More than one-third of the monthly sales for January, the final month of medical-only sales and the second highest-grossing sales month in program history to that point.
As the industry has grown, categories have been added and subtracted. This year the facility design categories have been removed, while product categories have expanded to better showcase the variety and expanse of the market.
Each year thousands of ballots are submitted representing a vivid cross-section of Missouri’s cannabis industry leaders and consumers, categories now reflect excellence in business as well as in consumer services, brand appeal, marketing, production quality, and consumer satisfaction.
This year, more than 100,000 votes were cast to determine the Best of the Industry for 2023.
Throughout next week Greenway will feature profiles and Q&As with the 2023 winners, follow along and learn about the individuals and companies driving the success and growth of cannabis in Missouri.
Now, please join us in congratulating the Best of the Industry.
