With The Treehouse Lounge being the first cannabis consumption lounge in the Ozarks, I was beyond excited to visit during the Itsabobo Mod Podge cannabis jar-making event they held. Complimentary chocolate-infused bars were available, along with many Puffcos ready to use at a moment’s notice. The atmosphere was exactly what I hoped it would be: chill, intimate, and welcoming.
I brought my camera to the event and asked if it was okay to take some photos around the place. The owners were thrilled with the packed event and didn’t stop smiling. They truly loved having us and encouraged me to take photos, grateful for my interest in documenting the event.
It struck me how kind and knowledgeable the staff at The Treehouse Lounge was, and I knew I wanted to highlight the positive impact they bring to the Ozarks and the Missouri cannabis industry.
More than just a place to relax, The Treehouse Lounge hosts a variety of experiences, from casual social hangouts to educational sessions on cannabis products. I particularly appreciated the aspect of private parties and industry events, as I love a place where I can connect.

What makes the lounge unique?
“We have created a space where anyone of any age and walk of life will feel comfortable. We always say The Treehouse is for everyone, and we stay true to the culture while building a family of like-minded patrons who make up our local cannabis community. We offer everything from Music Bingo to Movie on the Lawn. Bricks and Blunts is our Lego night, and Cannabis Commune is our monthly industry mixer for brands to connect with industry workers.”
Why is it important for Missouri to have a consumption lounge like Treehouse?
“It provides an opportunity for people who enjoy cannabis to meet and hang out with each other in a safe, fun, and social space with like-minded individuals. We have many members who say that being able to socialize at the lounge with other open-minded people has even saved their lives.”
What are some challenges you’ve faced since the lounge opened?
“Our main challenge is our limited advertising opportunities due to social media’s stance on cannabis use! All of our growth has been through word of mouth, and we ask that everyone tells a friend about us. We are fortunate to say that most everyone who visits The Treehouse comes back multiple times.”
What is your proudest moment for the lounge?
“On our opening night, I was lucky enough to run the dab bar where a 90-year-old and a 27-year-old shared a dab together. I had to take a step back and just take in the moment of what we had created.”
How did The Treehouse Lounge come to fruition?
“During COVID, we spent a ton of time hanging out in our garages with friends coming to smoke and socialize. Our two owners, who are neighbors, decided there had to be a better place for everyone to come together and enjoy cannabis. Before prohibition, they used to call consumption lounges “Tea houses,” and there were more Tea Houses in New York City than there are Starbucks today. Knowing cannabis is a social thing and with recreational use passing, we decided to go for it with the help of Brennen from The Cola Lounge in STL.”
How is cannabis most helpful/beneficial in your life?
“Both of our owners are growers, and that’s a huge part of our passion. Growing keeps your mind busy; it’s rewarding, challenging, and relaxing. Aj, being a veteran of the United States Air Force, finds that cannabis helps a lot with his aches and pains.”
What do you see for the future of the lounge?
“We would love to grow the member base and open more Treehouse Lounges around the state so that your membership will grant you access to lounges in other cities. We are also in the works of an outdoor stage area for more live concerts and hosting a Show Me Cannabis Cup next fall.”
Where can people find you?
“We are on Facebook and Instagram as The Treehouse Lounge, and we’re starting a weekly podcast on YouTube and Rumble. Our lounge is located between Springfield and Nixa at Summers at the River baseball park. Our hours are from 2 pm to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday we are open from 2 pm to 8 pm, as well as hosting many events throughout the week. Just follow our social media, and we will release a schedule at the end of every month for the upcoming events.”
